Urban Manufacturing's facility was originally built in 1988, but has been expanded four times since then to accommodate increased business. After the latest addition of 23,000 square feet completed in November of 2010, the facility's total size is 85,000 square feet.
Further expansion is expected. Our manufacturing facility is sited on land that supports considerably more expansion of our manufacturing space, and Urban is prepared to invest whatever capital is necessary in equipment and facilities in order to maintain the quality, cost, and delivery our customers require.
The current facility houses:
- 76 production CNC machines, including CNC lathes, vertical machining centers, and Swiss screw machines
- A prototyping department with another 16 machining centers, mills, and lathes
- An inspection department with 3 coordinate measuring machines (including two Zeiss Contura CNC-controlled CMM)
- A high level assembly department with an isolated, controlled atmosphere assembly area for medical components
- Management, sales and administrative offices
Urban currently runs two nine-hour shifts per day, with the capability of adding a third shift to increase capacity on demand.
